In its inception, Silverstray was conceived as a visionary project to support animal shelters and rescues in navigating the complexities of social media, promotion, and marketing. Founded by Kelly Carey, the organization initially focused on the powerful impact of awareness in driving adoptions, encapsulated in the motto, "Awareness Equals Adoptions."

After accumulating significant experience in the field of animal welfare, Kelly gained a profound understanding of the genuine needs within pet communities and identified comprehensive strategies to stabilize and heal them. Silverstray pivoted to become a provider of crucial services.

Silverstray's role is no longer confined to aiding shelters; it's become a catalyst for change in the Gary community. The focus has shifted from being a social media consultant to being a force for providing access to care and creating a culture of caring in Gary.

About Me

Kelly while technically an ecologist never ceased her work in animal shelters even on weekends throughout her whole career. She dedicated her efforts as an ecologist to the restoration of Gary's last remaining highest-quality dune and swale. Her work intimately acquainted her with the city's landscape and people. Subsequently, she transitioned to a role at a local shelter, where she encountered numerous pet families from Gary seeking assistance for their pets. The heartbreaking realization that she couldn't extend help due to jurisdictional constraints stirred a deep concern within her.

Motivated by the desire to address this gap and contribute to the stabilization and healing of the community, she decided to leave the shelter. This pivotal moment led to the inception of a program aimed at rectifying the situation, ensuring that pet families in Gary have access to the care and resources they need. Through this initiative, her goal is to foster a thriving, caring community where no pet family is left behind.
